FAQ

1) PROJECT GOAL

1.1 What is Libmonster for?

Libmonster allows authors to create personal online collections of articles, books, publications, photo documents, and files. Information about the uploaded materials is distributed by Libmonster in many countries around the world (open interactive map). Thus, by working with Libmonster, the author not only preserves their legacy but also disseminates it throughout the world.

1.2. Free use

All tools are provided to authors free of charge. We do not charge for creating collections or storing them. And it will always be this way.

1.3. Libmonster is a living site

Users can comment on each other's works, become friends, rate each other, and exchange messages via internal mail. There is also a "Notifications" section for authors: Libmonster will send all news related to the author's collection (new ratings, comments, etc.) to your email.

2) CREATING AN AUTHOR COLLECTION

2.1. What will be the address of my author collection?

At the top right, there is a "My Page" button. Here your colleagues, readers, and friends can find your entire personal author collection: Articles, Books, Files, Photos, Biographies, Polls, Diaries, Forums.

c) Carefully fill out the form and click the "Publish" button.

2.4. How do I add an article with complex text formatting, formulas, and numerous tables?

Articles with complex formatting, numerous formulas, and multiple tables are best published as a file in .PDF or .DOC (Microsoft Word) format. Attached files are displayed perfectly on Libmonster and are easy for users to read.
a) Open "Articles";
b) Click the "Add Article" button;
c) Add a "Description" and then copy the text of the "Description" into the "Full version of the publication" field;
d) In the "Attach files to the publication" field, attach a file or even several files if the publication consists of a series of files (up to 100 objects per article);
e) Use the green "Plus" button to attach another file;

2.5. Is it better to attach a file to a publication in the "Articles" section, or to add the file in the "Files" section?

There is no difference at all. Authors usually attach a file with their publication in the "Articles" section when they also have a text version of the publication. The "Files" section does not have options for publishing additional accompanying texts, photos, or videos — the section is intended solely for adding files.

3) ACCOUNT

2.1. How do I upload a main photo?

Go to your Account and click on the Avatar. You can assign any of the Avatars as your main photo or upload a photo from your local computer. If the Photos module is installed, on the "View Photo" page you can set one of the photos as your main Avatar.

2.2. How do I edit my account?

Go to your Account and click Edit Account. You will be able to change such details of your account as Title, Description, Gender, and so on.

4) MESSAGES

3.1. How do I send a private message to a user?

There are two ways to send private messages to users: 1) Click the Mail icon in the User Menu and select Create. In the Recipient field, type the username of the person you want to send the message to. If that username exists, it will be suggested to you as you type the first letters. This will help you verify that such a username actually exists. 2) On the user's account page, click Send Message.

3.2. How do I view the messages I have sent?

Click the Mail icon in the User Menu and then click Sent. You will be taken to the sent messages folder, which also contains the greetings you have sent. You can choose to display only messages or only greetings by checking the corresponding box. For example, if you uncheck Messages, everything except them will be displayed, and vice versa.

3.3. I accidentally deleted the wrong message. Can I get it back?

Click the Mail icon in the User Menu and then click Trash. All deleted messages and greetings are stored here. Select what you want to restore and click Restore. The selected messages and/or greetings will be moved back to the Inbox folder.

3.4. Are my messages saved until I delete them?

To free up space on the server's hard drive, old messages may be periodically deleted automatically.

5) SUBSCRIPTION

When you subscribe to another user, his/her profile will be displayed on your subscription page. The same happens if you subscribe to the activity of other users, such as posts in Blogs.

6) TROUBLESHOOTING

Most likely, you entered your password incorrectly or the CAPS LOCK key was activated when you were typing your password.
