913-Oleg's death. According to the chronicler's version, the prince died of a snake bite when he was going to go on a campaign "beyond the sea". Oleg was buried in Ladoga (now Staraya Ladoga). Igor becomes the Kievan Prince.

970-972. Igor's son and successor Svyatoslav "plants" his son Yaropolk in Kiev. Another son Oleg puts drevlyansky Prince. His third son Vladimir goes to Novgorod. In the same year, Svyatoslav opposed the usurping of power in Byzantium by Emperor John Tzimiskes. At the Dorostol fortress on the Danube, a battle took place (23.7) between the Rus and the Greeks. According to the chronicle it was in this battle that Svyatoslav uttered the famous phrase:

"Let us not put the Russian land to shame, but let us lie down with our bones, for the dead will have no shame." The Greeks barely overcame Svyatoslav and hurried to offer him peace. When returning to Russia, Svyatoslav was killed by the Pechenegs.

981 Vladimir makes successful campaigns against the Poles, the Prussian Jatwag tribe, and subdues the Radimichi. Under his control is the river route along the Neman, Bug and Vistula in the direction of the Baltic Sea. As a result of the campaign to the East, the Khazar Khaganate was defeated.

986 The choice of faith. The official religion of the state is the Christian Orthodox faith. Vladimir saw it as a tool for uniting the state.
