The author’s lecture courses available online seem to be overloaded with demonstration materials. Therefore, some of these materials, especially those relating to various experiments, are presented here separately in the form of a data ATLAS. The ATLAS is aimed at providing a clear explanation of modern experiments related to the spin of the particle.
In our lectures, we discussed collective properties of various nuclei at inelastic scattering of polarized protons. However, nuclei near N, Z = 28 have not been considered thoroughly.
Especially interesting in this regard are the even-mass isotopes of the nickel (Ni) nucleus. Their spectrum shows the familiar pattern of a “vibrational-like” nucleus. Of course, it is also possible to find states in these nuclei, reflecting the lower degree of collectivity. However, at least low-lying states provide a good example of collective excitations to which the DWBA or coupled-channel (CC) analyses can be applied.
In a number of studies, it is roughly assumed that for the 54Fe nucleus the angular distributions of inelastic scattering at excitations of two low-lying 2+ states can be considered similar. Of course, for some Epvalues, such a limitation is largely realistic or justified, but ultimately unpromising. The author set the task at TUNL to verify the reliability of the distinction between similar (p, p’) results at a slightly lower energy Epin the case of excitation of the same levels in 54Fe. As a result, having received sufficient and required confirmation, the author applied Raynal’s method for two values of Ep, which relates the difference in the analyzing power A(θ) with the description of the deformation of the spin-orbit potential and, ultimately, with the role of a proton-like excitation in the first low-lying 2+ state in 54Fe. In these cases, the effectiveness of the application of the differential analyzing power A(θ) • σ(θ) is especially clear.
The clearest connection of the (p, p’) scattering results with the nuclear structure was shown by all the data of the analysis for test examples on the excitation of the 2+ – 4+ – 6+ proton-like multiplets, as well as the other 3- – 5- states in the nuclei 90Zr and 92Mo. The experiments, conducted in these cases at 20 MeV at CEN-Saclay and at 16 MeV at TUNL, correlating well with each other, are reflected in the calculations and perfectly confirm the conclusions concerning, in particular, the excitation of the low-lying 2+ levels in 54Fe.
Of course, the energy intervals of incident protons are not yet strictly defined for those cases when the considered model of spin-orbit deformation of the optical potential can be applied. But this is already a task for further research.
In total, together with the TUNL researchers, the author made six short publications based on the materials of scientific conferences. He also made relevant public presentations at international symposia in leading nuclear centers. A comparison with the CEN-Saclay results was also demonstrated.

The ATLAS is recommended to students studying experimental nuclear physics at universities and polytechnic schools. It can be used as a guide to understanding elements of quantum mechanics. Such a guide, in the author’s opinion, can eliminate the existing gap in the available scientific literature
